A huge poster reproduction of American artist Paul Davis' iconic painting of Che Guevara. The image was created for the cover of the February 1968 issue of the leftist journal Evergreen Review in the months following Guevara's death in October 1967. In July of 1968 the offices of Grove Press, the publisher of Evergreen Review, were bombed with a hand grenade by anti-Castro Cubans, thought to be in retaliation for publishing Guevara's diaries and the saint-like cover image. Grove Press owner Barney Rosset later filed a lawsuit alleging the bombing.....

It's goal was to overthrow the U.S.-backed dictatorial Somoza family. Led by figures like Daniel Ortega, they achieved their goal, ruling until 1990 after implementing reforms in education, healthcare, and land reform, while engaging in conflict with U.S.-backed Contras. A scarce poster celebrating the spirit of resistance in Nicaragua for the 12th World Festival of Youth and Students, held in Moscow in 1985. The festival, whose slogan was "For anti-imperialist solidarity, peace and friendship," was attended by people from 157 different countries.
The poster includes the popular phrase "Victorious Nicaragua...we will never sell out or surrender" (ni se vende, ni se rinde). The slogan was a core ideology of the Sandinista government and it frequently appeared in political speeches attacking U.S. foreign policy as one of imperialism.....

A rare copy of one of the five original commemorative silkscreen prints of Che Guevara, designed by Cuban graphic designer Félix Beltrán for the Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP) [Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People]. Commissioned by the government of Fidel Castro in 1967, the series was produced shortly after the execution of Guevara in Bolivia.
