Nicaragua: Ten Years of Revolution and Solidarity Poster (1989)
A 1989 poster celebrating 10 years of Nicaraguan independence from the Somoza dictatorship and published by the Nicaragua Network, a national grassroots organization that promotes friendship projects with Nicaragua and works to end U.S. intervention in Central America.
Illustration by Chilean graphic designer and artist René Castro, a co-founder of Mission Gráfica, the community-based print center in San Francisco that became an icon of 1980s Bay Area political poster production. Art Direction is credited to Liberation Graphics.
The composition depicts a smiling young woman holding two pink bouquets, her expression embodying the hope, peace and development that the Nicaraguan people enjoyed during the decade following the revolution. Item #2047.
Condition: Very Good, with small corner bumps to 3 corners; a few surface dimples from previous rolling; four pieces of scotch tape on the back of poster in four corners.
