Poster documenting Miranda July’s The Missing Movie Project, in which she recorded imagined, unmade films from individuals historically underrepresented in cinema, particularly girls and women of color, people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and elderly women. Motivated by frustration with the lack of diversity in late 1990s cinema, July took to the streets Portland, Oregon, using a camera and tape recorder to document the public's unmade movie ideas. A poster for two nights of Portland punk at the short-lived punk "club" Pacific Academy featuring Bop Zombies, the Rats, Cleavers, UHF and Preppies on July 18 and Sado-Nation, Stiphnoids, Smegma, Dots and Briefcases on July 19. Produced by Mark Sten's Alternative Arts Association and featured on page 201 of his 2015 book "All Ages: The Rise and Fall of Portland Punk,1977-1981", which also features the story of Pacific Academy, a youth vocational school that allowed punk shows in the evening for a short time.

The concert poster for the Hellcows, Monomen and Dirty Bird at the Blue Gallery on May 26, 1990. Poster design by Mike King (also the drummer in the Hellcows) and featuring a drawing at center by longtime Portland musician/artist Sean Croghan. The Blue Gallery was a punk/rock club and art gallery run by Tim Brooks in NW Portland for a few years, circa 1989-1990.

Condition: Very Good, with six areas of staple holes from being stapled on a telephone pole, otherwise surprisingly very clean.

A 1983 flyer for the Violent Femmes at the Mediterranean Tavern on West Burnside in Portland, and the Violent Femmes first Portland appearance. George Touhouliotis ran the Mediterranean Tavern and started doing poetry and live shows there in the early 1980s. It was this Violent Femmes show that prompted Touhouliotis to open the legendary Satyricon, saying "They weren't really loud—it's the Violent Femmes. But there were a lot of complaints from the people upstairs. So this other space, Satyricon—it seemed right" (Willamette Week, 10/26/2010). The Femmes self-titled debut album was.....

The poster for the Portland premiere of Spike Lee's 1992 film "Malcolm X" on November 17, 1992. The premiere was a benefit for the Urban League of Portland and was sponsored by Nike, Inc. Phyllis Yvonne Stickney of the film was in attendance, as was Ruby Dee, who appeared in Lee's "Do the Right Thing". The film starred Denzel Washington as Malcolm X. The oversize poster for a 1985/1986 Susan Rothenberg exhibit at the Portland Center for Visual Art. PCVA was an artist-run center for contemporary in Portland, founded in 1971 and operating until 1987, that brought many national yet still emerging artists of the period to the west coast, including Richard Serra, Lynda Benglis, Carl Andre, Sol LeWitt, Meredith Monk, Dan Flavin, Robert Smithson, Bruce Nauman and others. The opening of Arlene Schnitzer's Fountain Gallery in 1961 was a pivotal moment in Portland's art history, and its influence still resonates today. This flyer, designed by Dale Ott, advertises a group show for the gallery's one-year anniversary with 32 noteworthy Northwest artists including Mark Tobey, Carl and Hilda Morris, Louis Bunce, Robert Colescott and Michele Russo. Postmarked and with handwritten mailing label on verso, remnants of a gold circular mailing tab seal.

Flyer from the campus of Reed College advertising Nitrogen Day on April 25, 2013. A Dr. Seuss drawing of a child soaring with a floating balloon is used to advertise a gathering in The Quad celebrating nitrogen, the 7th element. Activities vary from year to year, but sometimes include freezing common objects, such as a sock, with liquid nitrogen so they can be snapped in half.

Condition: Very Good, with blue painters’ tape still present (from posting) on middle top and bottom.
