Whimsically illustrated pictorial map of California’s Sequoia National Park, created by Carroll Barnes in 1945. The verso lists 23 notable places and activities within the park, each corresponding to the numbers and names appearing on the map. Cartoon figures exaggerate the features, landmarks and animals of the park, highlighting the map’s dual function as both an informative guide and a collectible piece of ephemera. Such souvenirs became increasingly common as national parks grew in popularity as vacation destinations during the World War II era. Condition noted, and priced accordingly.

This folio-sized antique botanical print is Plate XIII from the book The Ferns of Great Britain and Ireland by English writer and printer Henry Bradbury. Bradbury studied at the Imperial Printing Office in Vienna and is renowned for his innovations in botanical printing techniques. These plates were produced by creating a soft lead imprint of the plant, forming an intaglio impression with exceptionally fine detail. An antique, hand-colored etching by renowned Dutch botanist and botanical artist Abraham Munting from the year 1696. Munting’s botanical illustrations are celebrated for breaking with traditional conventions—rather than portraying plants in purely scientific isolation, he set them against classical or pastoral landscapes, often floating in midair with little regard for perspective or scale. Like his best-known work, Naauwkeurige Beschryving Der Aardgewassen, this etching was published posthumously following Munting’s death in 1683. A vintage Crater Lake National Forest Map map, issued in 1925 by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture/Forest Service. Folds out to 24" x 27" with one side having information on recreation for sportsmen and campers, resources, lakes and other points of interest plus a pledge for prevention of fire in the forests. The other side is the map of the Crater Lake National Forest in red and black. This map also available in the 1930 issue date.
