Mimeographed flyer for illustrated lecture entitled: Portrait of the Artist As a Man presented by Henry Augustine Tate. Gotham Book Mart, now closed, was a legendary bookstore, writers' center, and literary salon. The James Joyce Society meetings were an important aspect of this bookstore's programing and its usual meeting place. The Society was founded in 1947, and is devoted to the life and works of the Irish author. The first member of the Society was T.S. Eliot.

A circa 1967 fold-out brochure soliciting charter members for the renovation and new buildings of the Pasadena Art Museum (now the Norton Simon Museum of Art at Pasadena), which opened in November of 1969. The Pasadena Art Museum has played an important role in the history of post-war art, and California art in particular. Walter Hopps, who formed L.A.'s famous Ferus Gallery with Edward Kienholz, was the Director from 1964-1967 and organized the first American retrospective of Marcel Duchamp there in 1963.
