The New City: Principles of Planning (Signed)
A mid-century classic and the signature work on urban planning by Ludwig Hilberseimer, who taught at the Bauhaus institute in Dessau before emigrating to the USA to avoid persecution under the Nazi regime. Signed by him and dated 1944 on the title page. Hilberseimer was also the Director of Urban development for the City of Chicago. He was a friend and colleague of Mies van der Rohe, and together they designed the Lafayette Park urban redevelopment project in Detroit. Van der Rohe contributes the introduction to this book.
