Dan Flavin Dawn Gallery Exhibition Poster: Untitleds (to Barnett Newman), 1971
Exhibition poster published in conjunction with Dan Flavin’s show at the Dwan Gallery, New York, in 1971. The poster features a black-and-white photograph of Barnett Newman by Paul Katz. The exhibition included four fluorescent tube sculptures created as a tribute to Newman, an abstract expressionist artist whom Flavin greatly admired.
Flavin is known for his minimalist sculptures constructed from his signature media, commercially available fluorescent tubing. His iconic site-specific “situational” installations focus on the interplay between light, space, and the viewer's experience, often creating room-sized environments of light.
