A typography specimen poster of the Bodoni type fonts, plus an 8.5 x 11 sheet on cardstock detailing the origin and history of Bodoni type (mid-18th Century by the Italian printer Giambattista Bodoni). The set was produced by the Eastern Corporation paper company to highlight their paper product and its printing attributes. It was designed by George F. Trenholm from Boston, the type designer and consultant to the Intertype Corporation during the 1940s-'50s.
The poster displays Bodoni in italic, book, roman and bold styles, in sizes ranging from 6 to 60 point. All characters are also shown. The poster is printed on Eastern's Atlantic Ledger paper, which is a "strong, durable, genuinely watermarked ledger paper for all kinds of entry work and bookkeeping, as well as for catalogs, price sheets, and other similar pieces where extra strength is desired". The one-sheet is is printed on "double thick" cover stock with an antique finish. Item #958.
