1/1: The Quarterly Journal of the Just Intonation Network [Set of 20 Issues]

A set of 20 issues of "1/1: The Quarterly Journal of the Just Intonation Network". A total of 47 issues were published between 1985-2007. Originally published as a quarterly journal, that schedule proved too difficult to maintain and the publication soon became more irregular in its publication schedule. The word "Quarterly" was removed from its name around 1991. The journals remain the largest single body of information about Just Intonation in the English Language.

This set is from the collection of composer Douglas Leedy (1938-2015). Some issues include laid-in notes, letters and ephemera, including an original letter to Leedy by harpsichordist and composer Norman Henry; plus some notes and correspondence from "1/1" editor David Doty, including a list of Just Intonation Network members as of 10/28/85 and a copy of Just Intonation Utilities (computer code). Leedy was involved in the West Coast avant-garde and early electronic music scenes and taught music at UCLA and Reed College, and his compositions were published in "Source: Music of the Avant Garde". He was a member of the Just Intonation Network, and he published articles in later issues of "1/1" (Volumes 11 and 12).

Twelve of the issues in the set are 11x17" folded and stapled along the spine. Eight issues are 8.5x11" and stapled in the top left corner or along the spine side, and are likley photocopies of the original 11x17 issues - and the set is priced accordingly. The issues noted with an asterisk (*) below are the 8.5x11" likely photocopied issues.

The set contains the following issues:
Volume 1, Number 1 (Winter, 1985)*
Volume 1, Number 2 (Spring, 1985)
