Norma Heyser Sculpture [blue-yellow]

This sculpture, circa 1965, is by the Oregon artist and activist Norma Heyser (1933-). It was shown in her 1960s solo exhibition at Mt. Angel College, a short-lived but vibrant art school and arts venue active in the late '60s to early '70s located in Mt. Angel, Oregon. In the exhibition, the piece was hung from the ceiling - it has an embedded metal hook so that it can be re-installed in that same manner. Heyser studied at the Museum Art School in Portland in the mid-1950s, and went on to work at MoMA in New York for a short time. Upon her return to Oregon, she and Ron Peterson co-founded the New Gallery of Contemporary Art in Portland, which ran from 1958-1962. Additional shipping rates apply. Item #38.
