Item #241 Salt-Fire Workshop Poster (1974)

Salt-Fire Workshop Poster (1974)

Oregon ceramic workshop poster featuring several images of pottery fires produced in connection with the 3rd Annual Salt-Fire Workshop in 1974. The workshops included raku sessions, wheel building, communal meals and a sweat lodge. Located near The Dalles, two hours east of Portland, Oregon, the event exemplifies the back to land and craft movements prevalent in Oregon's '70s counterculture. The poster advertises that the workshops occur on a "functioning organic homestead" and that P.K. Hoffman (the American ceramist who studied with the some of the greats of the American Revolution in Clay) would be presiding. Item #241.
