Thonet Tubular: Steel Furniture Card Catalog

The scarce Vitra Design Museum facsimile of an original 1930s Thonet catalog of their iconic furniture. Thonet became the world's largest manufacturer of tubular steel furniture in the 1930s by adapting its industrial bentwood manufacturing expertise to modern Bauhaus design. Of the 84 cards, 62 feature black-and-white images from the 1930–31 collection of French and German tubular steel furniture. The remaining 22 cards include an introduction, along with assembly and repair instructions. A great resource documenting early mid-century furniture design. Thonet is still in business and producing furniture today.

The collection features work by pioneers of tubular steel furniture design, including Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Lilly Reich, and others. Text in English and German. Item #2260.

Condition: Very Good+ cards in a Very Good- portfolio, cards with light toning around edges; portfolio with small corner bumps to all edges; light edgewear; light rubbing to edges of spine.
