The Complete Reprint of Physique Pictorial: Vols. 1-3, 1951-1990
Physique Pictorial was the magazine of the Athletic Model Guild (AMG), the ground-breaking studio of homoerotic photography founded by Bob Mizer (1922-1992) in Los Angeles in 1945. Over his lifetime, Mizer photographed over 10,000 men - including early appearances by future stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joe Dallesandro, and Tab Hunter. Physique Pictorial was the defining periodical of gay Beefcake culture, influencing artists such as David Hockney and presenting Tom of Finland's work as early as 1957. A comprehensive document of Mizer's black and white gay male photography, prior to his switch to color photography in the later 1990s. Wayne Stanley's introductory text in English and German. Out of print. Adults only/18+.
