The Green Tortoise: Collection of 8 Catalogs and Newsletters (1988-1996)
A fun collection of eight publications from the hippie bus company the Green Tortoise. The service was found in 1973 as a slow-paced, counterculture alternative to mainstream long-distance bus travel. The buses featured mattress-lined interiors instead of traditional seats, allowing passengers to sleep while rolling down the highway, alongside a communal approach to cooking meals, and excursions often stopped at counterculture spots along the way such as natural hot springs.
The collection features six catalogs covering trip itineraries and prices plus two newsletters, the Green Tortoise Trails. Trips included adventures to Baja, Belize and the Yucatan, New Orleans, Alaska, the Bay Area/California Coat, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the East Coast and more. Item #2186.
Condition: Very Good, toning to newsprint; some small notes in pencil to some covers; light edgewear to some issues.
