Che Guevara: Other Hands Will Take up the Weapons Poster (Circa 1967)
A rare copy of one of the five original commemorative silkscreen prints of Che Guevara, designed by Cuban graphic designer Félix Beltrán for the Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP) [Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People]. Commissioned by the government of Fidel Castro in 1967, the series was produced shortly after the execution of Guevara in Bolivia.
Each of the five silkscreen designs features a silhouetted image of Guevara, printed in various colors and captioned in English with the phrase “Other Hands Will Take Up the Weapons” (editions also appear to have been issued in French, German and Spanish). The line summarizes a passage from Guevara’s epitaph: “Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this our battle cry may have reached some receptive ear and another hands may be extended to wield our weapons.”
Beltrán was known for blending Constructivist principles with Caribbean vibrancy in his designs. A key figure in Cuba’s revolutionary poster movement, his works are minimalist yet powerful examples of graphic communication. A rare and important poster in the history of Cuba.

Condition: Very Good-, pinholes in top corners; soft creasing and rubbing to all four corners; moderate edgewear along left edge where there are several sections, all smaller than .25," where top layer of ink has rubbed off; light edgewear on remaining sides; a few light surface marks; mounted to stiff illustration board.
