Arena es Terror es Guerra Poster (Circa 1985)
An anti-fascist poster protesting the right-wing political party ARENA (Nationalist Republican Alliance) of El Salvador. The party was founded by individuals deeply embedded in the military command linked to right-wing death squads during the country's civil war. ARENA was established in 1981 and held the presidency of El Salvador between 1989 and 2009.
The poster shows two leaders of the group, Roberto D’Aubuisson and Alfredo Cristiani, as the eyeballs of a skull with a swastika on its forehead. The text reads "Arena is Terror, is War" and "Everyone Against Arena."
The poster appears to be an original photocopy produced during the 1980s, and came from a collection of political material on Central American during that time period. Item #2071.
Condition: Near Fine, with a 3" crease at bottom right, likely from the photocopier pinching the paper during printing.
