Dennis Hopper: Out of the Sixties

A first edition from a run of 4,000 copies. This volume brings together a collection of 90 black-and-white photographs by Dennis Hopper, taken between the ages of 25 and 31 during the early to mid-1960s. The photographs are complemented by writings from director and curator Walter Hopps, poet and playwright Michael McClure, and Hopper himself.

American actor, director, and artist Dennis Hopper is best remembered for his work in film and is considered a prominent member of New Hollywood, a movement from the 1960s through the early 1980s that saw a new wave of young filmmakers rise to prominence. In addition to his work in front of and behind the camera, Hopper turned to photography in the early 1960s, gaining acclaim for his compelling portraits and his role as a visual chronicler of his time.
