Four Oversized NASA Apollo 11 Moonwalk Photo Prints
Four oversized (17" x 14") photo prints produced by a contractor of NASA at the time of the first moon walk. The photos show a close-up of astronaut Neil Armstrong's boot on the moon's surface; a view of Buzz Aldrin, the seismic recording package deployed on the lunar surface, the US flag and the Lunar Module; a close-up of the Lunar Module; and a close-up of astronaut Aldrin.
With an undated letter from the Data Corporation, a contractor of NASA, that reads: "The enclosed four color photographs are from the first and only roll of film exposed on the lunar surface by Neil Armstrong during his moon walk.... A team of photographic technicians from our wholly owned subsidiary, Data Corporation, processed the roll of original film at the Precision Laboratory Section at NASA, Houston...Our Houston facility then made numerous transparency duplicates for release by NASA to the various news media. The enclosed color prints were produced by Data Corporation's commercial precision processing laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, utilizing the duplicate transparencies."
The photos are high quality on glossy photo stock. The backs of the photos are blank.
The letter, on Data Corporation letterhead, includes a very faint "Received" stamp which appears to read "(?) Oct (?)9" with the day and year unreadable, presumably 1969. The Mead Paper Company acquired the Data Corporation in 1968, spinning off parts into Mead Data Central. The Data Corporation appears to have continued in some capacity through the mid-1970s, dating the photos to that period or earlier.

Condition: Very Good, slight soft crease down the middle of photos, causing some surface dimples and creasing; 1" crimp along top edge to the photo of Armstrong's foot; close-up of Buzz Aldrin; slight curl to photos at edges; light edgewear and three photos with tips of corners showing wear to print surface; slight age "fogginess" to photos; creasing to letter.
