The third and final issue of the legendary Portfolio magazine, which ran from 1950 to 1951. Created with the aim of publishing a magazine devoted entirely to art and design, Portfolio is notable for its broad range of content, inventive layout, and its blending of boundaries between the celebrated work of established artists and the everyday aesthetics of American vernacular culture.

This issue features articles on stereoscopy—complete with the original 3-D glasses—as well as features on Ben Shahn, Henri Cartier-Bresson's photographs of Asia, Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, and more. Item #1857.

Condition: Good-/Fair, with moderate edgewear and two small corner bumps to the front cover; moderate chipping to front and back cover papers along the spine, with 3" of spine covering missing; back cover paper is partially detached from the book board; three closed tears along the front cover paper where it meets the spine, all under .25"; one .25" closed tear and .25" of chipping on the back cover paper at the spine edge. Now in a custom mylar jacket.
