Exhibition poster and a separate announcement postcard, published in conjunction with the second and third “performances and activities” of NYU’s Art Student Association series, produced by gallerist John Gibson and collectively titled BODY. The announcement features a white negative image of performance artist Vito Acconci printed on a black background.
The first performance in the series included artists Vito Acconci, Terry Fox, Dan Graham, and Dennis Oppenheim. The second set of performances, presented two weeks later, featured Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, and Michael Snow. BODY is considered a landmark event in the history of performance art in New York. Condition: Very Good poster with Very Good postcard. Poster is folded as issued, with an additional soft horizontal crease across the middle on both sides; .25" chip along bottom edge; four sets of staple holes along left and right edges from staples used to secure poster during mailing; light soiling to back from mailing. Postcard shows moderate edgewear with three closed tears, all smaller than .25"; soft creasing around top and edges; light soiling to back from mailing.
