Cinema Magazine, Issues 1-6 (1962)
The first six issues of what would eventually become one of the leading critical film journals of its time. Described in the editorial note of its first issue as “a graphic magazine of information on the diverse world of film entertainment,” Cinema’s early issues often leaned more toward pictorial and graphic design elements than editorial content as the publication found its footing. This approach resulted in stunning black-and-white images and vibrant color graphics scattered throughout its pages, setting the tone for the magazine’s unique aesthetic. Item #1785.
Condition: Good+, all issues show moderate rubbing on the front and back covers, with creasing, corner bumps, and toning along the edges. All spines are reinforced with clear tape; Issue two has a black pen mark that redacts the word “JUNE” on the front cover; Issue three has light soiling and a paperclip mark on the front cover, as well as on five pages.
