Beastie Boys: Licensed to Ill Label Poster (1986)
The original record label poster for the Beastie Boys debut release "Licensed to Ill" (1986 on Def Jam/Columbia). As the story goes, Rick Rubin, who produced their first record, joked they should have a private plane like Led Zeppelin so the idea for the album artwork was born, featuring an image that when the LP was opened only then revealed the crashed front end of the plane (which also looked like a smoking blunt on its own). As it was the Beastie Boys first record, with their subsequent success still unknown, it is likely not many of the posters were printed, adding to its rarity. With a copyright for "CBS Inc." as they owned the disributor for the album, Columbia Records. Item #1725.
Condition: Very Good, bumps causing 3 creases along the bottom of poster; some light surface creasing and dimples; some very light age spotting more visible on the back of the poster than the front; pinholes in 3 corners.
