Aspen Magazine No. 5 + 6: The Minimalism Issue
The rare issue numbers 5 and 6 of this groundbreaking "magazine-in-a-box" that grew out of the International Design Conference in Aspen, Colorado, and ran for 10 issues. Considered one of the more collectible issues of Aspen Magazine, along with the Warhol-designed third issue.
In 28 numbered sections (all items are present), contributors include Sol Lewitt, Dan Graham, Mel Bochner, William Burroughs, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Marcel Duchamp, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Robert Rauschenberg, and Susan Sontag, among others. A key publication in the conceptual/minimalist canon in very nice condition. Item #1600.
Condition: Near Fine for this issue, rubbing and soiling to box but intact and undented, which commonly occurs to the box; interior contents in fine condition with age toning to paper; a few catalogs have minor corner bumps/dogears; the previous owner has added foam core dividers keeping the contents upright and undamaged from jostling; the film and flexi-discs appear unplayed.
