Immediate Family (First Printing)

The first edition, first printing of Sally Mann's important and controversial photobook, Immediate Family, in fine condition. The book and photographs sparked a wide-ranging debate on children, sexuality, motherhood and contemporary mores. Mann's photographs showed her children in their rural setting among nature, free from restrictions and the rules and codes of adult life. Luc Sante in The New Republic called it "one of the great photography books of our time". A key photobook of the 20th Century. Item #1587.

Condition: Near Fine, faint toning/yellow around edges of interior pages as is common with this paper stock; a .75" area of delamination to dust jacket near bottom on back cover; a few minor surface indentations to dust jacket and a diagonal light/soft crease to dj front cover.
