The Cockettes Les Etoilés du Minuit Poster (1972)
The poster for a performance run by San Francisco's legendary and outrageous Cockettes, opening on New Year's Eve 1972 at the Palace Theatre (Columbus and Powell streets). Les Etoilés du Minuit (the stars of midnight) had a run from Dec. 30 to Jan. 8 with various guest performers including Danny Kaye, "That Lady," and Olivia de Havilland. Performances began at midnight.
With a drawing by John Flowers in the style of Jean Cocteau. Flowers did the drawings in "The Official Cockettes Paper Doll Book". The stars on the poster are printed with a gold metallic ink. The Cockettes disbanded in the spring of 1972, although individual members continued to perform. Item #1539.
Condition: Fair, overall wrinkling/creases to poster from rolling; edgewear and corner dogears; a few scattered spots/soiling to poster.
