Andy Warhol: Castelli Gallery Exhibition Poster; Hans Namuth Photo

The iconic Castelli Gallery poster for Andy Warhol's January 1982 exhibit, with the photograph taken by Hans Namuth of Warhol in front of a Renaissance painting. Namuth is also known as the photographer who made the famous film of Jackson Pollock creating a drip painting by filming Pollock from below through a large piece of glass.

The painting behind Warhol appears to be The Return of the Mother to Her Son (also known as, or translated as, Reconciliation of the Queen and Her Son) from the Marie de' Medici Cycle, a series of twenty-four paintings by Peter Paul Rubens commissioned by Marie de' Medici, widow of Henry IV of France, for the Luxembourg Palace in Paris. The cycle of paintings now hang in the Louvre in Paris. Item #150.
