Japan Tourist Library: Complete Set of 40 Volumes (1934-1942)
The complete run of 40 volumes of the charming booklets on the history, culture, art and customs of Japan issued serially by the Board of Tourist Industry/Japan Government Railways from 1934-1942. Researched and written by experts in their various fields. Various editions and printings (first, second, third, etc.) were released during those years, and this set comprises a mix of those printings.
Quite nicely printed in single colors of sepia or green inks, or black and white, plus a sprinkling of color images throughout. Most volumes include a color frontispiece. 25 volumes are in their original glassine jackets.

Condition: Good, edgewear and creasing, sometimes heavy, to the yapped (overhanging) paper wraps as is common; some soiling, foxing or sun toning to covers and/or pages; a handful of volumes have previous owner's name in pen on first page or title page; a few volumes with underlining in pencil; some chips, tears, holes or creasing to the delicate glassine jackets (when present) as is common; the rarest volume, Hand-Made Paper of Japan (with tipped-in paper samples) has scuffing, browning and foxing to covers, with creasing to the first four pages.
