A large collection of early issues of MIT Press' influential academic art and ideas journal "October," including the first issue released in 1976. The collection includes issues from 1976 to 1997. Editors over the years include Douglas Crimp, Yves-Alain Bois, Hal Foster, Joan Copjec, Silvia Kolbowski, Benjamin Buchloh, Denis Hollier and John Rajchman, with founding editors Rosalind Krauss and Annette Michelson remaining constant from issue 1 to 82.

Authors and and topics are too long to list but the collection includes some of the most important thinkers and writers of the 20th century. A highlight list might include John Cage, Slavoj Žižek, Yvonne Rainer, Hollis Frampton, Foucault, Duchamp, Marinetti, Fassbinder, Deleuze, Adorno, Lacan, Peter Eisenmann, André Breton, Seth Siegelaub, and Cornel West, not to mention the editors themselves providing essays in many issues.

Included in the collection are issues 1-6, 8-11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 21, 24, 25, 28, 30, 37-41, 44, 46, 50-60, 62, 64-70, 73, 75, 79, 80-82, plus the book "October: The First Decade, 1976-1986." The journal, still active today, published issue number 182 in the Fall of 2022.
