A book containing over 120 colorful Dutch (mostly) food-related poster stamps, compiled in a "Sluitzegel-Album" issued by the Fred C. Stähle "Luxury Bakery" of Amsterdam. The stamps were issued by companies and meant to be collected and compiled in an album such as this. Featuring examples of a variety of products and companies including cookies, candies and cakes, coffee, cigarettes, candles, flour, soap, toys, yogurt and more. Also serves as a great collection of the advertising and modernist Dutch graphic design of the period.
Mostly filled, with the last 5 pages being blank. Includes over 120 stamps. Fun fact: it appears the building at Spuistraat 274 where the Stähle Bakkerij was located is still in use today as a bakery. Item #1379.
Condition: Good, with edgewear and chips, staples loosening but still holding; split to cover at spine fold up to the bottom staple; some stains to pages from stamp glue residue; now in a custom made protective mylar jacket.
