The 1964 revised edition of R. Klengston Rude's large pictorial map of Frontier Alaska, commissioned to celebrate Alaska becoming the 49th state in 1959. With historical events from 1741 to its statehood flanking either side, the map is densely packed with depictions of the state's abundant wildlife, marine life, flora, fauna, industries, highways (proposed and existing) and representations of native inhabitants. With a large totem pole illustrated at center right, a brown bear scratching at its base. A lovely and detailed map, richly printed in blue, green and amber colors. Item #1377.
Condition: Very Good, a few surface creases from previous rolling; one 1/8" closed tear and .25" chip along bottom edge; a .5" area of the lower right corner tip is gone.
