Session: The Bowl, Deitch Projects Poster (2002)

The exhibition/event poster for the Deitch Projects exhibition "Session: The Bowl" that took place from December 14, 2002 to February 15, 2003 at 18 Wooster Street in New York. The central element was a giant, empty wooden swimming-pool sculpture and skateboard bowl created by Simparch and placed in the middle of the gallery. The viewer approached the skate bowl sculpture from the underside, and a stairway led to the upper level. An exhibition of new painting, drawing, photography, and video by 33 artists associated with skateboard and street culture was also presented. Impromptu skate demos occured throughout the two-month exhibit.

Stephen Powers (ESPO) designed the poster with logos for each of the participating artists, which included: Michael Bevilacqua, Thomas Campbell, Deanne Cheuk, Larry Clark, Martha Cooper, Tony Cox, Dalek, Dash, Doze, Cheryl Dunn, Shepard Fairey, Phil Frost, Futura, Ry Fyan, Evan Hecox, Jo Jackson, Todd James, Chris Johanson, SSUR, KAWS, KR, Ari Marcopoulos, Barry McGee, Ryan McGinness, Mike Mills, Stephen Powers, J.otto Seibold, Rostarr, Simparch, Ed Templeton, and Tobin Yelland.

Opening night performances were by A-ron the Dirty Rotten Don with Kid America & the Bandy Crew BARR. Item #1336.

Condition: Very Good, folded as issued and mailed; a few rust-type spots to poster along top and bottom edges as if it was once posted/held up with thumbtacks (but no holes).
