Whole Earth Catalog: 30th Anniversary Celebration; Winter 1998
The scarce 30th Anniversary issue, which is a facsimile reprint of the very first Whole Earth Catalog from Fall 1968. It also features an additional 36 pages of new writing by Stewart Brand, Brian Eno, Gary Snyder, Wendell Berry and many others. The publication also functions as the Winter 1998 issue (#95) of "Whole Earth" magazine, which is what the "Whole Earth Catalog" morphed into after becoming "CoEvolution Quarterly".
The recent 2020 documentary "We Are As Gods" highlighted Stewart Brand's and the magazine's influence on ideas and culture in the second half of the 20th century, including the founding of the modern environmental movement. Item #1063.
Condition: Very Good+, light edge wear and rubbing along spine fold; light rubbing to covers; original mailing label affixed to front cover; Please note: the blemishes, chips and creasing visible on the front cover are reproduced from the original 1968 issue used to reproduce the fascimile cover of this issue i.e. they are printed on the cover and not actual blemishes. Now with a custom-made mylar jacket.
