Item #1055 9th Annual New York Avant Garde Festival Poster. Charlotte Moorman, Jim McWilliams.

9th Annual New York Avant Garde Festival Poster

The oversize poster for Charlotte Moorman's 9th New York Avant Garde Festival 1972, taking place in New York City, Albany and "hopefully" Poughkeepsie, with some events taking place as as "A Riverboat Show Aboard the Alexander Hamilton," a passenger steamboat that travelled the Hudson River between New York, Albany and Poughkeepsie.

The poster lists dozens of artists and performances including Eleanor Antin, Ay-o, John Cage, Dick Higgins, Carolee Schnemann, Allan Kaprow (mispelled "Allen" on the poster), Christo, Jean Dupuy, Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, Otto Piene, Judith Scott, plus many, many more. The 1972 festival was a celebration to the memory of Ken Dewey and the 60th birthday of John Cage. Some years there were two versions of the festival poster, including this year. Poster design by Jim McWilliams. Item #1055.

Condition: Very Good-, folded as issued; with mailing label, postage stamps and 1" and .5" pieces of tape attached (as mailed); some additional soft creasing at folds, faint sun fading to one panel opposite mailing address.
