Whole Earth Catalog: The Outlaw Area; January 1970

The January 1970 issue of the Whole Earth Catalog in the format that was formerly known as "The Supplement" and "The Difficult But Possible Supplement to the Whole Earth Catalog", in which the covers are not black but printed newsprint. A note inside the first issue of the Whole Earth Catalog states "If the content of the...Catalog is mostly products, the content of the....Supplement is mostly processes". A note on the cover also states that "the name was changed to accomodate the Post Office" (and there is a further explanation of their postal problems on page 53). The supplements were meant to be published in between the larger issues and offered corrections and updates to the previous issue, and were shorter in length. On pages 5 and 6 of this issue are the Fall 1969 catalog corrections. Also included are "New Suggestions" for books, products and practices. Other articles and topics included are "Liferaft Earth", "Earth Peoples Park", Canada, ecology and "Death, Old Friend", plus a section called "The Outlaw Area" with a contribution from Arthur Godfrey. Item #1023.

Condition: Good: edgewear, chips and small tears to newsprint covers; 2" closed tear to back cover; WEC mailing label taped to back cover; rust to staples at spine; age toning to newsprint.
