A 1921 pochoir-printed plate from the Paris fashion magazine, Gazette du Bon Ton. The magazine was published from 1912-1925 and featured exquisitely printed illustrations of the latest fashions using the pochoir printing process, in which stencils were created for the various colors and the plates hand-painted. This jacket illustration is by the legendary French designer Paul Poiret. Many of Poiret's designs are included in the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Item #1009.
