A 1969 flyer with a charming hand-drawn flower illustration for a poetry reading by Allen Ginsberg. The reading was hosted by the Cultural Affairs department of The City University of New York, and took place in the Klitgord Center Auditorium, now replaced with a more modern building but still owned by the university.
Condition: Near Fine, some toning along edges of flyer; minor edgewear; tiny dogear to one corner.

Oversized Japanese photobook printed in high contrast black and white, spanning the years 1969-1979 and with contributions from A. Isozaki, K. Shinoyama, S. Otsuji, Y. Takanashi, K. Taki and S. Taira. A stunning collection of images, printed full bleed. With a timeline/key to the photos, and an 8-page insert laid in. All text in Japanese. Rare.
Condition: Very Good, rubbing, scuffs and wear to slipcase; small corner bump to lower front corner of book not affecting interior pages.

An original signed and numbered Robert Motherwell lithograph in an edition of 98 with 14 artist’s proofs from his "El Negro" suite of prints produced in 1983. This number 73 of 98, and signed by Motherwell in pencil in the lower right. Printed by Roger Campbell and Lee Funderburg at the renowned Tyler Graphics workshop, who produced prints and editions by some of the great contemporary artists of the 20th Century. With preparatory work for the continuous-tone lithography by Kenneth Tyler himself. Robert Motherwell (1915-1991) was one of the great painters.....

Life Size presents full-page photographs of the Los Angeles-based artist's process in making textile and dyed works, paintings and sculpture through his investigations into the natural process and contrasting the organic with the man made. A collection of 49 issues (in 35 publications) of the influential film journal Film Culture, known for exploring avant-garde cinema in depth. The magazine was founded and edited by Jonas Mekas (1922-2019), also the founder of the Anthology Film Archives and considered to be the godfather of American avant-garde cinema. Fluxus artist George Maciunas did the layout for select issues, such as Nos. 15 to 23 and No. 30 in this collection. A total of 79 issues of Film Culture were published between 1954 and 1996. The second printing (with light blue endpapers) of Lenore Kandel's book of four erotic (some might say pornographic) poems that was censored when it first was released, with copies confiscated by the police from City Lights Books in SF. Kandel was also one of the speakers at the famous Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park during 1967's "Summer of Love"

A vintage poster by Portland graphic designer Steven Birch with the image of Malcolm X and the phrase "Fight the Power!". Inspiration likely came from the band Public Enemy, who were touring the states in 1988-1990 with the release of their albums "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" and "Fear of a Black Planet". The song "Fight the Power" originally appeared on the soundtrack of Spike Lee's film "Do the Right Thing" and later on "Fear of a Black Planet". Printed on heavier, glossy paper stock.....

The poster for the Portland premiere of Spike Lee's 1992 film "Malcolm X" on November 17, 1992. The premiere was a benefit for the Urban League of Portland and was sponsored by Nike, Inc. Phyllis Yvonne Stickney of the film was in attendance, as was Ruby Dee, who appeared in Lee's "Do the Right Thing". The film starred Denzel Washington as Malcolm X. Printed on heavier, glossy paper stock. Poster design by Mike King.
