The April/May 1968 Special Huey P. Newton Issue. Published from 1968-1969 in the East Bay, the birthplace of the Black Panther Party, Black Politics was "a part of the Black liberation movement and believe[s] that freedom, justice, and equality must be attained by those means that the oppressed think necessary." At the publication of this issue, Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton was charged in the death of a police officer and was being held in jail.
