Paul Brach: Dwan Gallery

Paul Brach was the founding dean of the School of Art at the California Institute from 1969 to 1975. There he was responsible for hiring John Baldessari and Allan Kaprow, among others. Together they created an experimental institution from which emerged: David Salle, Eric Fischl, Barbara Bloom, Jack Goldstein and others. Brach was one of the first artists to exhibit at Leo Castelli and assisted in the planning/formation of the gallery. As an important figure in both the East and West coast scenes, he also was a regular at the Cedar Bar in Greenwich Village. This folded flyer/poster includes a detailed biography of the artist's career up to April 1960 and announces his first West coast exhibition at Dwan Gallery, Los Angeles. Item #791.
